The latest and greatest IFF specs for pictures (ilbm -- interleaved
bit maps), text (ftxt -- formatted text) , voice (8bsv -- 8-bit
sampled voice), and now music (smus -- simple musical scores)
may be found in mailbox examples.
For your convenience, I have copied the introduction to each spec
into a seperate message. Each intro takes less than 1 minute to
download, you can then decide which spec you want.
These specs are extensions to the EA IFF specification printed
in the V1.1 Rom Kernal Manual. They apply to the specific areas
of graphics, text, speech, and music. (NOTE: music is entirely new!).
The full spec (of the extensions) has been uploaded to mailbox examples.
Below is a list of the file/message names and the time it took me
to upload them (at 1200 baud).
IFF spec - 8-Bit Sampled Voice (8bsv) == 4 minutes
Simple Musical Scores (smus) == 7 minutes
Formatted Text (ftxt) == 3 minutes
Interleaved Bit Maps (ilbm) == 3 minutes
The full spec, EA IFF 85, contains about 64k characters. I will
upload it (est. time should be around 9 minutes) if you want.
Stay tuned for more information on the latest versions of the
various support routines.
